11th Eiger Ultra Trail by UTMB

The Eiger 3970m and its north face fascinates both mountaineers and trail runners. In 1858, the local guides Christian Almer and Peter Bohren with their guest Charles Barrington were the first to reach the Eiger summit. The east ridge, called Mittellegi, was the first to be climbed by the Japanese Yuko Maki with his Grindelwald guides in 1921. The last problem of the Alps, the Eiger North Face, was climbed in four days by Anderl Heckmair and Ludwig Vörg as well as Heinrich Harrer and Fritz Kasparek in 1938. Inspired by the Eiger myth, Grindelwald launched the Eiger Ultra Trail in 2013, opening the first ultra trail in the Bernese Oberland.

With the stage locations Grosse Scheidegg, First, Berghotel Faulhorn, Schynige Platte, Wengen, Männlichen, Kleine Scheidegg and the traverse under the Eiger North Face, not only spectacle but unique mountain ambience is offered. With 101 kilometers and 6700 meters of altitude, the E101 route is a tough test for all participants.
