On the tracks of Ueli Steck and Roger Schäli
The demanding climbing walls make the heart of the sports climber beat faster. Experienced alpinists and climbers have decisively shaped this area.
In the two sectors "A Surfer's Paradise" and "B Civil Defence" routes of grades 5c to 8c are bolted.
A total of over 70 routes can be found in this limestone. You can let off steam here for days on end.
Topos can be found in climbing guides from Vertical Sport, Filidor or Plaisir.
The southern orientation lets the rock warm up quickly in summer. Depending on the sector, the rock can get wet or dirty when the snow above melts.
Season
The climbing garden is mainly used from May to October. Due to its location at an altitude of about 1500 metres, the temperatures drop considerably in winter.
Costs
Use of the sport climbing routes is free of charge.
Only the costs for the gondola ride to Gimmelwald are charged. The village is within the validity range of the GA Travelcard.
Location
From the village of Gimmelwald an approx. 50 minute walk leads to the foot of the wall.
Follow the gravel road towards Chilchbalm. After crossing the river, a path on the right leads up to the wall.
