This hike begins at the main railway station and continues along the village street to the church. After the Wüthrich bakery, follow the yellow signs in the direction of Oberer Gletscher (Upper Glacier). A leisurely ascent leads you past groups of houses in the direction of Hotel Wetterhorn. Experience one of the hike's first highlights at the Rangerbar, where, with a little luck, you might catch a glimpse of deer in the expansive enclosures. The paved road ends after a short ascent. Starting at the farmhouse on the right, the hike continues on a narrow hiking trail through forested sections, over summer meadows and glistening turquoise mountain streams. From the Wetterhorn Hotel, a lovely field path ascends through moorland meadows. Don't forget to turn back once in a while for a glimpse of the mighty Eiger North Face. From «7. Schürli», the trail leads through sparse woodlands to the «Unterer Lauchbühl» holiday hostel. The trail criss-crosses the pass road until you reach Grosse Scheidegg. Recharge your batteries at the Grosse Scheidegg mountain restaurant and soak up the magnificent views of the Grindelwald Glacier, Eiger and Mönch.

Getting There
Public transport
Thanks to its central location in Europe, Switzerland is served by international trains from over 12 countries. Within Switzerland, Intercity trains run directly from Basel and Lucerne to the Jungfrau Region. Travellers from Zurich have to change in Berne. The trains run every half hour.
Getting there
There are different ways to reach the region by car. The fastest way from Basel and Geneva is via Berne. The fastest route from Zurich is through Lucerne and the Brünig Pass. The pass is open in summer and winter.
From the south, the route goes over the Grimsel or Susten Pass into the region. Both passes are only open in summer. Alternatively, you can take the Simplon Pass and then Lötschberg car transport.
Grindelwald has public car parks with covered parking spaces: Eiger+ car park (252 parking spaces) and Sportzentrum car park (160 parking spaces). They cannot be reserved in advance. Uncovered parking spaces are available everywhere in the village.
