Hiking - making cheese - having breakfast

In summer, the mountain landscape around Mürren is not just for hiking. The main occupation of the local mountain farmers is of course not walking in nature but something much more exciting: cheese production.

In the alpine heights above Gimmelen lies the Schiltalp. During the guided tour you will climb a few metres in altitude to reach the alp. At the top the mountain farmers show you their craft. The alpine cheese is produced over months. For this purpose, huge cauldrons, a wood fire, a large storage area and much more are used.
After the insight into the cheese dairy, all guests are offered a tasty breakfast in the mountains.

Dates

The guided tour takes place every summer from mid-July to early September.

Every Wednesday at 07:45 the tour starts in Mürren. It ends, depending on the wishes of the guests, at Schiltalp or around noon back in the village of Mürren.
