The route was described to the best of our knowledge and in good conscience. Use this tour at your own risk. We assume no liability for accidents or damage of any kind. Grindelwald Tourism lays no claim to the completeness and correctness of the following information.

You can either start the ski tour at the First mountain station or you can take the Oberjoch chairlift to get a bit of a headstart. From the mountain station of the Oberjoch chairlift, you ski southwest through Widderfeld hollow to the Gummihitta at 2,260 m above sea level. Continue along the well-maintained winter hiking trail to Lake Bachalp. At the lake, leave the winter hiking trail to the left and head uphill to the south in the direction of the «Hireleni» pass. Continue below the «uf Spitzen» ridge until you reach the summit via the east ridge. Once you reach Uf Spitzen at 2,380 m above sea level, you can take in the magnificent mountain panorama for the first time and forget the rigours of the ascent.

The descent leads over the initially steep southeastern flank directly to the winter hiking trail, which is reached southwest of Waldspitz. Follow the winter hiking trail further downhill until you reach a crossroads just below Bort. If there is enough snow, you can continue on skis down to Grindelwald. Otherwise, a ten-minute walk takes you up to the Bort middle station where you can take the cable car back to the village.

The northern slopes of the First– Faulhorn winter trail are in the federal hunting area and should not be skied. The traverse from the Oberjoch is tolerated, but do not ascend and stray into the south-facing slopes. A wildlife reserve extends from the southern slopes of Reeti to the slopes west of Uf Spitzen. Therefore, leave the route only to the east.

Getting There

Public transport

Thanks to its central location in Europe, Switzerland is served by international trains from over 12 countries. Within Switzerland, Intercity trains run directly from Basel and Lucerne to the Jungfrau Region. Travellers from Zurich have to change in Berne. The trains run every half hour.

Getting there

Car: There are different ways to reach the region by car. The fastest way from Basel and Geneva is via Berne. The fastest route from Zurich is through Lucerne and the Brünig Pass. The pass is open in summer and winter.

From the south, the route goes over the Grimsel or Susten Pass into the region. Both passes are only open in summer. Alternatively, you can take the Simplon Pass and then Lötschberg car transport.

Parking

Grindelwald has public car parks with covered parking spaces: Eiger+ car park (252 parking spaces) and Sportzentrum car park (160 parking spaces). They cannot be reserved in advance. Uncovered parking spaces are available everywhere in the village.
