Since 1 January 2008, Jungfrau Region Tourism AG has been responsible for marketing the Jungfrau Region destination, including the villages of Grindelwald, Wengen, Mürren, Lauterbrunnen, and since 1.1.2016 also for Haslital. The primary objective is to market what the tourist destination has to offer to the defined target markets. A further function is to oversee central tasks such as IT, staffing and coordination for the entire tourist destination. The Jungfrau Region is financed by contributions from the Tourism Promotion Fee, the Cantonal Accommodation Fee, revenue from service contracts and income from various activities carried out by the tourism office itself.
The basic strategy for future market development centres around the five most important locations in the Jungfrau region: Grindelwald, Wengen, Mürren, Lauterbrunnen and Haslial. Each location has a clear market objective and exhibits different personalities/philosophies. The atmosphere in Mürren cannot be compared to that of Grindelwald, and visitors to Wengen differ from those in Lauterbrunnen. Consequently, as part of the strategy for the Jungfrau umbrella and reference brand, the decision was taken to revive the five individual brands of Grindelwald, Wengen, Mürren, Lauterbrunnen and Haslial, which developed into established brands over more than a century of tourism history. These brands will be established within the market development plan, and each will have clear objectives and benchmarks for success.
