In Grindelwald you can use 4 cable cars, 3 mountain bus lines and 2 cogwheel railroads to marvel at the Grindelwald mountain panorama from a higher altitude. Unlike in other destinations, you can only get to the village by car. The excursion destinations in the mountains cannot be reached by car. Below you will find information on how to get to all the excursion destinations around Grindelwald by public transport and where to park your car to reach the mountain railroads in the most relaxed and uncomplicated way possible.the fastest way to the most beautiful views.
The train to Grindelwald departs from Interlaken Ost. Take this to the stop called "Terminal". From there, you only have to walk a short distance through an underpass and you will arrive directly at the gondola station. Take the Eiger Express up to Eigergletscher. This journey only takes 15 minutes. From there, you can take the connecting train directly to the Jungfraujoch.
As an alternative to the gondola lift, you can take the “traditional” route by train. To do this, you don't get off at the terminal, but at Grindelwald station. There you have to change to the train to Kleine Scheidegg. At the top of Kleine Scheidegg, the connecting train takes you up to the Jungfraujoch.
By car, you can park directly in the “Terminal” parking garage, which is located right next to the cable car station. From there, you can take the Eiger Express to the Eiger Glacier in just 15 minutes. You can then take the connecting train to the Jungfraujoch.
If you only want to get to the Jungfraujoch by train without taking the gondola, you can get to Grindelwald Grund station from the parking garage terminal in 5 minutes. There you can take the train to Kleine Scheidegg with a connection to the Jungfraujoch.
The Firstbahn is located in the heart of Grindelwald. You can take the train from Interlaken Ost to Grindelwald station. From there, buses 121, 122 and 123 will take you to the Firstbahn valley station. Please note that the bus is marked “via Firstbahn”. These buses go in the right direction. Alternatively, the cable car station can be easily reached on foot from the train station. Simply follow the main road deeper into the village for about 10 minutes. The station is on the left-hand side of the road.
As parking facilities in the village are very limited, we recommend parking your car in the Terminal parking garage in summer. From there, you can use your parking ticket to take the free shuttle bus via the train station directly to the Firstbahn. This bus runs every 15 minutes.
In winter, if there is sufficient capacity, you can also park your car in the Eiger+ car park at the station. Regular buses on lines 121, 122 and 123 run from the station to the Firstbahn.
The cable car up to Pfingstegg is located at the back of the village. If you arrive in Grindelwald by train from Interlaken Ost, change to bus no. 122 in the direction of “Gletscherschlucht” or “Pfingsteggbahn”. The bus stop “Pfingsteggbahn” is right next to the valley station of the cable car.

Parking on site is very limited and very busy in the morning. We therefore recommend parking your car in the parking garage at the terminal. From there, you can use your parking ticket to take the free shuttle bus via the train station and Firstbahn directly to the Pfingsteggbahn. This bus runs every 15 minutes.

Take the train to Grindelwald from Interlaken Ost and get off at the “Terminal” stop. After a short walk through an underpass directly from the platform, you will reach the gondola station. From there, the Eiger Express cable car takes you to the Eigergletscher in just 15 minutes.
You can park your car in the parking garage at Grindelwald Terminal. Right next to it is the gondola station, from where you can take the Eiger Express up to the Eiger Glacier. You can reach the Eigergletscher in just 15 minutes.
The train runs from Interlaken Ost to Grindelwald station. Here you just have to change to the connecting train up to Kleine Scheidegg on the other side of the platform and enjoy the 35-minute journey.
You can park your car in the Eiger+ car park next to the station. However, the parking garage fills up quickly, especially in summer. We therefore recommend that you park your car in the Grindelwald Terminal. From there you can walk to Grindelwald Grund station in about 5 minutes and change to the train to Kleine Scheidegg.
Take the train from Interlaken Ost to Grindelwald station. The bus station is on the opposite side of the road from the train station. From there, take bus no. 126 up to Bussalp.

As the mountain road up to Bussalp is closed to private vehicles, you will have to use bus no. 126, which runs from the train station. Park your car at the Grindelwald Terminal and use your parking ticket to take the free shuttle bus up to the train station. There you can change to the mountain bus line to Bussalp.

Take the train from Interlaken Ost to Grindelwald station. The bus station is on the opposite side of the road from the station. From there, take bus no. 127 up to the Waldspitz.

The mountain road up to the Waldspitz is closed to private vehicles. You must therefore use bus route no. 127, which runs from the train station. Park your car at the Grindelwald Terminal and use your parking ticket to take the free shuttle bus up to the train station. There you can change to the mountain bus line to Waldspitz.

The use of the mountain road up to Grosse Scheidegg is prohibited for private vehicles. You must therefore use bus route no. 128, which runs from the train station. Park your car at the Grindelwald Terminal and use your parking ticket to take the free shuttle bus up to the station. There you can change to the mountain bus line to Grosse Scheidegg.

Excursion destinations in the village
If you arrive in Grindelwald by train from Interlaken Ost, change to bus no. 122 and get off at the “Gletscherschlucht” stop. The bus station is just on the other side of the road from the train station. As an alternative to the bus, the glacier gorge can be reached in a 30-minute walk.

The glacier gorge is approx. 8 minutes' drive from the village center. Drive through the village to the church, turn right and follow the road over the Lütschine. After the bridge, turn right and follow this road to the glacier gorge. There are a few parking spaces available on site.
Alternatively, you can park your car in the terminal and take the shuttle bus, which is free with your parking ticket, up to the station and change there to line no. 122 in the direction of “Gletscherschlucht”.
