Sponsorships & enjoyment directly from the alpine pasture

Your cow – your cheese

A cheese may only carry the name “Alpine cheese” if both the milk production and the cheese-making take place on the alpine pasture. This is exactly how the cheese is produced at the Nebiker dairy on the Wärgistal alpine pasture. Become a sponsor of a cow and take part in sustainable cheese production. Your cow spends the summer on the alp, feeding on healthy grass and herbs. The cheesemaker milks the animal and processes the milk into flavorful cheese directly on the alp. You can collect this cheese in autumn at the traditional “Chästeilet” festival or by arrangement with the alpine farmer.

Duration: approx. 90 alpine days from June to September
Cow sponsorship fee: CHF 380.-
Desired cheese quantity: approx. 30–120 kilos of cheese per cow
Full-fat cheese: special price of CHF 20.- per kilo
Minimum purchase: 30 kilos per contract

Goat sponsorship Steessiboden Alp Holzmatten

With a goat sponsorship, you support traditional alpine farming while also receiving fresh products directly from the alp.
The sponsorship costs CHF 150.–. As a thank you, you will receive two delicious goat cheese “Mutschli” made from fresh goat’s milk.

On a fixed date in summer (announced in spring), we invite you to visit the alp. There, you will have the opportunity to meet the goat keepers personally and gain exciting insights into life and work on the alp.

During a small tasting of goat products, you can sample the alp’s specialties. After a peaceful day on the pasture, the goats also enjoy being observed up close.

By prior arrangement with the alpine cheesemakers, you can also collect your cheese directly from the alp on a date of your choice – ideal for combining the visit with a beautiful mountain hike.

Of course, larger donations are also very welcome. If you would like to take on a sponsorship, please include your email address in the payment reference. This allows us to contact you in May and send you the summer program.
