Lake Bachalp
Lake Bachalp is an idyllic mountain lake in the Bernese Oberland that enchants visitors with its dreamlike reflection of the Alps and its tranquil location at 2,265 meters above sea level.
He painted the Jungfrau, he painted the Schynige Platte, but Ferdinand Hodler never captured the Bachalpsee on canvas. The crystal-clear water, in which the Schreckhorn is reflected when there is no wind, would have been to the world-famous symbolist's taste. But many others have discovered the beauty of the “blue jewel”. Bachalpsee has traveled around the world as a postcard. Nevertheless, no photo can capture the aura of the mountain lake. You have to go and see it for yourself. It's not exhausting. Bachalpsee can be reached on foot from First in less than an hour on an easy, family-friendly hiking trail.
