Your Cow – Your Cheese
A cheese may only be called “Alp cheese” if both the milk production and the cheesemaking take place on the alp. This is exactly how the cheese is produced at the Nebiker dairy of the Wärgistal mountain community.
Become a sponsor of a cow and be part of sustainable cheese production. Your cow spends the summer on the alp, feeding on healthy grass and herbs. The dairyman milks the animal and processes the milk into flavorful cheese directly on site.
You can collect your cheese in autumn at the traditional “Chästeilet” (cheese distribution) or by arrangement with the alpine farmer.
Duration: approx. 90 days on the alp (June–September)
Cow fee: CHF 380.–
Expected cheese yield: approx. 30–120 kg of cheese per cow
Full-fat cheese: preferential price of CHF 20.– per kg
Minimum purchase per contract: 30 kg

Goat Sponsorship Steessiboden Alp Holzmatten
By sponsoring a goat, you support traditional alpine farming while receiving fresh products directly from the alp.
The sponsorship costs CHF 150. As a thank-you, you will receive two delicious “Geissmutschli” (goat cheese specialties) made from fresh goat’s milk.
On a fixed date in summer (to be announced in spring), we invite you to visit the alp. There, you will have the opportunity to meet the goat farmers in person and gain fascinating insights into life and work on the alp.
During a small tasting of goat products, you can sample the alp’s specialties. After a peaceful day on the pasture, the goats can also be observed up close.
By prior arrangement with the farmers, you can also collect your cheese directly on the alp on a date of your choice – a perfect opportunity to combine your visit with a scenic mountain hike.
