Grindelwald in winter

Unique. Diverse. That's a good way to describe Grindelwald in two words. Two ski areas await you in the village at the foot of the Eiger. Both are characterised by perfectly groomed pistes and a breathtaking mountain panorama. But you will also find numerous winter hiking trails here. Or would you like to go to the highest railway station in Europe? Or go adrenaline hunting on First? Or...

Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe

At 3454 metres above sea level, the railway station on the Jungfraujoch is the highest railway station in Europe. The line runs through a seven-kilometre tunnel through the Eiger and Mönch. Once you reach your destination, you can visit an ice palace, enjoy the view over the Aletsch Glacier, the largest glacier in the Alps, and much more.

One resort - two ski areas

In Grindelwald, you are spoilt for choice. On the one hand, there is the Grindelwald-First ski area, which you can reach by cable car in around 25 minutes from Grindelwald. On the other side is the Grindelwald-Wengen ski area. The Eiger Express takes just 15 minutes from Grindelwald Terminal to the Eiger Glacier - and therefore right into the centre of the ski area. Did you know? The notorious World Cup downhill run is opened to the public after the International Lauberhorn Races.

Try it with comfort

Have you finished your skiing career, never even started or simply want to do something away from the piste again? Without the action, at a leisurely pace? Numerous winter hiking trails await you in and around Grindelwald. For example, the Jungfrau Eiger Run from the Eiger Glacier to Kleine Scheidegg - or the classic par excellence: the hike from First to Bachalpsee, in front of the Wetterhorn, Schreckhorn and Finsteraarhorn. All winter hiking trails at a glance.

Pure adrenalin!

First - Top of Adventure: The name is no coincidence. There's no shortage of thrills here. Here you can fly in the clutches of an eagle - and reach speeds of up to 83 km/h in the process. Or do you dare to take the First Cliff Walk? The steel construction runs along the cliff and ends with a 45-metre-long walkway out into the void. Wow!

After an exhausting, eventful day, you can end the evening in a cosy atmosphere in the village. Grindelwald is known for its lively après-ski as well as its culinary delights in one of the many restaurants.
